Three Team Chicago teams emerged victorious from the NSR Gold Cup tournament in Naperville, IL over Labor Day weekend. And Team Chicago Academy-Brasilia (U14 Girls) and Team Chicago-Roma (U9 Boys) were runners-up at the event.

Team Chicago Academy-Botafogo won the U19 Girls division after winning all 4 of its games, which included a very impressive performance in a 2-1 victory over the Eclipse ECNL team. In the Final Botafogo defeated NSA 2-0.

Team Chicago Academy-Cruzeiro won all of its 5 games enroute to securing the U13 Girls division title. This included two identical 3-1 victories over the runners-up from Brookfield, WI.

Team Chicago-Corinthians won all 4 of its games to win the U10 Boys title. In the Final they defeated Aurora Flames 2-1.

Team Chicago Academy-Botafogo goalkeeper Megan Geldernick has accepted a scholarship offer to continue her career at Big Ten powerhouse the Ohio State University. Megan, who plays her prep soccer at Metea Valley H.S., will be part of Head Coach Lori Walker’s 2013 recruiting class.

The Buckeyes were a 2010 NCAA Division I Final Four participant. They suffered a close 1-0 defeat to eventual national champions Notre Dame in the semi-final.

Dani Pitaro Commits to DePaul University!

Team Chicago Academy-Botafogo midfielder Dani Pitaro has accepted a scholarship offer to continue her soccer career at DePaul University. Pitaro, who plays her prep soccer for Glenbard South H.S., will be part of DePaul Head Coach Erin Chastain’s 2013 recruiting class.

DePaul is a member of the Big East Conference along with national powerhouses like Notre Dame and Marquette University.

Averaging more than 130 players per session over 2 weeks of two-a-day fitness sessions, the Team Chicago Academy players concluded the annual Pre-Season Fitness Camp last Friday.

The Camp which is modeled after a typical grueling college pre-season camp, has become something of a badge of honor for the Academy players. The Team Chicago Academy coaches volunteered their time to run the players through their paces in preparation for the upcoming Fall season.

Team Chicago Academy-Botafogo just received news that they had won the Fair Play Award at the US Youth Soccer National Championships in Rock Hill, SC.

“The Fair Play Award is selected by referees, state representatives and the US Youth Soccer National Championship Committee. The award-winning teams are recognized for displaying positive conduct on the field toward their opponents and game officials throughout the competition”.
